Restarting your computer is required before updating can continue

Sometimes, the installation of a previous program or Windows update might not complete successfully.

When this happens, it can leave behind changes that make Windows and other programs think a restart is needed.

Unfortunately, because the failed installation never cleans up these changes, the installation of Windows updates and other programs can be blocked.

You'll continue to see this error each time you run Exchange Setup if this happens.

This allows system administrators to schedule updates all at once.

However, if a security flaw is being exploited in the wild, important security patches may be released immediately.

There are times, however, when you might get this error again even though you've already restarted the computer.

If the response is no, the message disappears and the computer functions normally.

Several Windows updates have been processed since this message first appeared.

At every startup a Windows message appears saying "Restarting your computer is required".

The message further says "The computer must be restarted before updating can continue. " If the response is yes, the computer reboots and the same message appears.
